One of my greatest desires for my children is that they grow up to be people who will be generous in their giving, sacrificial in their loving, and mindful of the fact that there are so many people (actually, MOST of the world’s population!) less fortunate than themselves.
We try to remind our children every day that we live an extremely blessed life (no matter how hard our days are!). We want them to know that not far from our shores are people who struggle just to put food on their table every day and clothes on their backs.
Each Christmas we try to find ways to be a blessing to others–tangible ways that our children can see and be a part of.
It’s all part of loving our neighbor as ourselves and cultivating in our children a heart that says, “It’s not about me! Someone else has far greater needs than what we do.”
I know that many families feel the same way. Over the next few weeks I am going highlight opportunities for you to give this holiday season. Please pray about it and see where the LORD leads you. Include your children as you consider giving out of the incredible abundance that we have in this country.
I absolutely love PROJECT HOPEFUL. The founders and the staff are personal friends and I know that everything they put their hands to is handled with utmost integrity before the Father. This year Project Hopeful has a Christmas shopping page to benefit some of the beautiful people who they touch daily through their various ministries around the world.
Please consider sowing precious seed by buying animals for people’s sustenance, mattresses, mosquito nets, or clean water this Christmas. The things we so often take for granted every day.
Would you please share this with your friends and family so that they too can give with a purpose this Christmas? That would be wonderful!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
