~~~ We are home after a few amazing days away from home. We had such a blessed time and are so grateful for the gift of precious family time. For those of you who asked me where the pictures I posted were taken–Grand County, Colorado. Truly a magnificent part of the country.
~~~ Our big van is officially on its last legs. The repairs are costing more than the car is worth. Bummer!
~~~ Next week I will join a group of women whom I love in the adoption community in a quest for better health. I’m up for the challenge and excited. I spend so much time taking care of my family and have recently been feeling the effects of neglecting my own health. I need to change that.
~~~ Many have written to ask me how Kael is doing. He fits in like a glove! Sweet boy is doing so very well. Right now we are working hard with him to try and get him walking. He is not interested. At all! Kael is quite happy to hang out on the floor. We recently got him a little walker which he will use to stand upright but not walk. It’s going to take some time. The other struggle is getting him to chew solid food. The kid is like a snake–what goes in gets swallowed whole. Not good! Together with his therapists we’re working at teaching him to chew–but this too could take a while. For now we keep his diet softer. Those are our greatest challenges–nothing really in the bigger picture. He has amazed us at how well he has fitted into the family.
~~~ Anthony and I still find ourselves standing at a crossroads in life. The cry of our hearts remains the same, “Speak Lord, for your servant is listening.” ~~ 1 Sam 3:8-9. And we know He will. In His time, not ours.
~~~ Hasya got fitted for her new wheelchair last week. I can’t wait for it to come–hot pink with a bit of bling, of course. Love. When they measured her I was surprised to see that she is already two inches taller than when she came home. Love that too. She is doing so, so well. Such a sweet little blessing to our family.
~~~ We’re loving the slower pace of summer. Lazier days and no agendas are such a welcome break from the normal fast pace of the school year. I cannot believe that I will have a high schooler next year. How time flies!
~~~ Thank you to everyone who has committed to helping the Twietmeyer family as they step out in faith to move their family to Guatemala. They still have such a long way to go to have the funds they need to sustain their family there. If you haven’t already, would you please prayerfully consider sowing precious seed to enable this family to go and love on the people in that nation with zero financial burden? What a blessing that would be!
~~~ My inbox is flooded with so much advice and many questions too after sharing about Hailee’s recent diagnosis. Diagnosing children is such a challenging road to walk. I know that and understand it with all my heart. Many of you shared concerns about your own children and things you have noticed. I am no expert in this area. I know it’s hard figuring things out sometimes. The only advice I would give is that if you suspect that something is not quite right, or if you have deep concerns, please get a professional opinion and diagnosis for your child. A diagnosis-according-to-mom is not a medical diagnosis–it is speculation. And acting upon that is detrimental and unfair to a child. In fairness to my child, I would never “label” any of my children before first getting accurate, medical advice. Just my opinion.
