friday musings

~~  What happened to August? I somehow missed it.  Christmas is just around the corner.  Crazy.

~~  Our days have been busy and full.  We’re kind of sort of back into a normal routine.  School is happening for most of my children.  The only one still to begin his new program is Connor.  He is doing an on-line Christian academy this year and they only start this coming week. This will be something new for him.  I’m excited to see how it works out.  He is a great independent learner and loves just sitting down and getting on with it.  Hopefully this will be a wonderful fit for him.

~~  Haven lost another tooth this week.  It’s actually quite funny.  We never really know when she loses them.  It takes one of us looking at her and noticing that something looks, well, a little different.  Only then do we realize that she has lost a tooth.  On rare occasions she will come to us with a little tooth in her hand and give us her prize, but more often than not she just yanks them out and leaves them in secret places around the house.  I’m waiting for the day that we stumble upon a stash of missing teeth.  Oh, the joys of raising children who are non-verbal!  Every day brings new surprises.

~~  The Lord is my shepherd….I SHALL NOT WANT!  What more could I possibly want anyway?

~~  Big post on adoption, fundraising and trying to help children in desperate situations coming on Monday.

~~  Hailee is gaining strength each and every day.  She is doing so much better.  Praise God.  Thank you so much to all of you who so faithfully prayed for her during those hard days.  I cannot even tell you how much I appreciate it.  I am happy to report that she has even gained a bit of weight–our sweet six year old has reached 22 pounds again.  Just three more pounds to go and she will be back to what she was before she got so sick.  Thank you for all the amazing advice you shared here.  I appreciate it.

~~  Harper has a new obsession.  The iPod with headphones!  Like, completely obsessed.

~~  Took Hailee to a new doctor this week.  A super nice man.  I did have to chuckle though when I totally lost count of how many times he referred to my daughter as “Downs”, or “a Down syndrome child”.  I sat there wondering whether he needed a lesson in people first language, or grace.  Grace won, of course.  Some things are just not worth getting in a tizzy over. I have bigger fish to fry.

~~  I am still having an issue with the comments on my blog.  Some are being displayed via Disqus (which is visible) and others are going to the original commenting system.  If you leave a comment and don’t see it, don’t worry, I do read them all.  Some are just not visible on my blog. I have no idea how to fix it.

~~  Loved this discussion.  Very, very interesting reading the thoughts of many of you who use the public school system for your kiddos who have various needs.  I guess it really is true–one size certainly does not fit all when it comes to schooling our children.  Thank you for sharing your amazing families and the roads you have walked. Very insightful to read.

~~  Dang!  I wish I could do this.  I told you so….girlfriend is super talented!

Have a very blessed Friday, everyone.  May the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords envelop you in His love this day.
