the launch of “Abundantly More”

It’s been more than ten years now that I have been involved in the adoption community.  Ten years of building some of the closest friendships that I have.  So many of my dearest friends I have met through this community of women who have taught me so much and been some my greatest support and encouragement. To say that I am thankful for them is an understatement.

One of those sweet ladies in my life is Angie Rylands.  I have known Angie for many years as an online friend and have followed her adoptions as her family grew.

At the time Angie worked for Lifeline and I did some advocating for some of their waiting children. Then three years ago, while at the Christian Alliance for Orphans conference in Nashville, I was able to hug Angie in real life. It’s been such a blessing in my life to know this woman who is such a treasure in the Kingdom of God.

Last year brought many of us in this community to our knees in prayer for Angie and her family.  Her husband Tom was suddenly diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer.  We prayed and cried out to God to heal Tom.  But the Father’s plan was different to ours and within a matter of weeks, Jesus took Tom home–leaving behind his wife and five sons. Gosh, I ached for Angie and her boys!  So very painful to watch a friend go through something so difficult.

I watched and prayed as Angie and her boys picked up the broken pieces of their lives, tried to adjust to their new normal without Tom, and continued to give glory and honor to their God in heaven every step of the way. I was deeply inspired and touched by Angie’s unwavering faith in her Father who gives and takes away.  Not once did she lose sight of His goodness, His faithfulness and His sovereign plan for their lives. Even in her pain, this now widowed mother to five sons looked toward heaven for everything that she needed.

In her heart, she knew that Jesus alone was enough for her.

Angie’s faithfulness moved me.

Last November Angie wrote me to say that God had confirmed in her heart that she needed to write their story–the raw, real, honest story that God had written for their lives. She needed to press past her own pain and share the miracles, the loss, the pain, the joy, the hope, and the faithfulness of her God in a book.

Just a few days later I received the first draft to read.  I pretty much cried all the way through!  To know how excruciating it was to go back and relive so many memories while her heart was so tender made me weep for my friend. But she did it!  And it’s a beautiful, inspiring, faith-filled story guaranteed to touch your heart and remind you once again that He does indeed make all things beautiful in His time.
